so i was thinking about this, and just dean and seth and touch in general, and like…just the fact that this is the first time they’ve really hugged or touched each other like this in over three years. and it’s so obvious because there’s so much pent-up emotion and longing finally being let out here between them – you can tell how much they’ve both missed this, missed each other. and also it happens not once, not twice, but three (3) times!!! they’re both so desperate for physical affection. especially from each other. dean can’t stop himself once he’s started, even if the second time is just a quick, aggressive shoulder-check. and he’s always been more comfortable with actions than words and this gives away so much about what he’s feeling. he’s spent years and years on his own, just focused on surviving, not able to trust anyone else, trying to hide any and all vulnerability and he just – can’t anymore. can’t hide how much he still cares about seth. and seth can’t help himself from going in for another one, all the while staring at dean like he still can’t quite believe it. and the way seth always clings so tightly to dean like he doesn’t want to let go…he’d been through so much in the year before this, he’d been tossed aside by people who he thought cared about him, he had to deal with another potentially career-threatening injury, had to hit rock bottom and finally face all the things he’d done, had to slay his demons on one good leg, had to reclaim his soul and start rebuilding himself as a new man, and he was all alone through all of it. imagine how touch-starved (and love-starved) he’s been for so long. and all he wants and all he needs after all of that is dean. even if it’s just a five-second hug. or three. that’s enough for him now.
All this is very important and I’m glad that someone else is still spending their time to talk about it.
